The secret to driving is being totally relaxed in the upper half of the body. 

Have a relaxed grip. 

Once you've completed your backswing, initiate your downswing by moving your hips left and eventually facing target. 

This will cause the upper body to follow and you get a sweeping motion through the ball, instead of hitting at it with the upper part of the body.

The slice is caused by the club cutting across the ball (outside in), to cure this

  • Turn your shoulders with no lateral move off the ball
  • Complete your backswing
  • Initiate your downswing with your hips
  • Transfer weight on to your left side
